Asphalt Repair & Patching
Most asphalt damage is fixable if you catch it early. Small cracks become potholes, and potholes become base failure. We handle the full range: crack sealing, pothole patching, full-depth repair, and edge repair for residential driveways and commercial lots throughout the Charlotte metro.
Crack sealing
Cracks are the entry point for water. Water in the base is the number one cause of pavement failure in the Carolinas. Sealing cracks as they appear is the cheapest repair you can make and it prevents most of the expensive ones.
Pothole patching and full-depth repair
A pothole is a symptom. The right fix depends on why it formed. Surface-only failures get a cut-and-patch. Base failures need to be dug out, rebuilt, and repaved to full depth. A cheap patch on a failed base will fail again within a season.
- Saw-cut clean edges around the failure
- Remove failed asphalt and any soft base material
- Rebuild base with compacted aggregate
- Place hot-mix asphalt and compact properly
- Seal the perimeter joint to keep water out
Edge repair
Driveway and parking-lot edges break down first because they lack side support. We rebuild edges cleanly so they hold their shape and finish flush with the surrounding ground or curb.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my driveway needs repair or full replacement?
If damage is limited to isolated cracks, potholes, or edges, repair is the right call. If cracking has spread across the majority of the surface (alligator cracking) or the base is soft, replacement or full-depth reclamation makes more sense long term.
How long do patches last?
A properly installed full-depth patch lasts as long as the surrounding asphalt. A surface-only patch on a failing base is a temporary fix.
